FLAT COURTNEY
MEETS THE
RUBY RASCALS of
THE RED HAT SOCIETY

I went to a Red Hat Society meeting with Connie.
She is "Queen Mom" or "Lady BUG" of the Ruby Rascals chapter.
The Red Hats is a social club for women who are 50 and over.
They get together for a fun time and wear red hats and purple clothes. What a
fashion statement! Actually, they get inspiration for their "color coordination"
from a poem entitled "Warning", which basically says
now that you're older and your life isn't as frantic,
enjoy life and reclaim your childhood.
You don't have to be 50 years old to join the
Red Hats, but anyone joining who isn't 50 years old
must wear a pink hat. As you can see in the picture,
Connie constructed a beautiful paper hat with chenille
print for me to wear. When I was introduced to The
Ruby Rascals, they thought I was really "PHLAT"!!

Getting ready to join in the fun!

The Ruby Rascals do all sorts of fun things at their
meetings. They have dinner, play games, blow bubbles and play
their kazoos.
The kazoo playing leaves alot to be desired, but
it is fun to make horrendous noises and not have
anyone yell at you for doing it!

Another Connie won the prize *purple and red
Christmas balls* for completing the Thanksgiving Word Scramble.
I helped her a little.
